TPG PortfolioManager: Starting Projects out of Your Portfolio Based on Resource Availability

When a great idea finally turns into a real, approved project, the first question usually is: when will we have the appropriate resource and budget situation to start the project?

TPG PortfolioManager is the perfect tool for project portfolio management with Microsoft Project and other planning tools. The software tool allows you to aggregate the data from new and ongoing projects at the project level and show each of them as a task.

This gives you a comprehensive overview of all projects in a single bar chart.

Optimize Your Resource Utilization with Your Mouse

Below the bar chart, a dialog box displays several resource histograms summarized by department alongside a line representing maximum capacity. Current and new projects are shown in different colors.

To adjust the resource plan with TPG PortfolioManager, you simply drag and drop the project tasks in the view until the resource peaks are below the overload level. It is easy to activate / deactivate projects and modify the capacities of resources. This enables you to test resource simulations quickly and save the results of different variants.
