The PMO is the central hub for information and communication between the stakeholders. It ensures that the people from the individual areas work together more harmoniously in the interest of successful multi-project management. In this context, the right position of the PMO in the corporate hierarchy is very important for its ability to assert itself.
As part of the processes, you regularly prepare and conduct status, coordination and steering committee meetings. For this purpose, it is necessary to ensure information is prepared correctly and in good time. Purposeful decisions can only be made on a valid information basis. As a pace-setter, the PMO provides the right rhythm for all involved.
The individual methods are to be defined by the PMO: from creating a project to high-level planning, prioritization, detailed planning and implementation through to closure and documentation of the Lessons Learned. In addition, training and coaching ensure that all participants understand and apply the methods properly.
It is important to have a tool environment for multi-project, portfolio and resource management which is integrated across all areas. This ensures that all roles receive the information and data they need for decisions and the efficient performance of their tasks. The PMO provides this environment and makes sure the users are trained and supported in their daily work.
