Enterprise-wide Solutions with MS Project Sever

Comprehensive Project and Portfolio Management

Microsoft Enterprise Project Management (EPM) solutions provide capabilities across the entire project lifecycle to help organizations effectively initiate, select, plan and deliver projects on time and within budget.

TPG The Project Group advises companies on project management and solutions based on Microsoft (EPM). TPG then develops systems that usually include additional functions for specific use cases, and these functions are provided by extension products. The result is a solution that is quickly accepted because it makes users’ work easier.

The solution out of the box: Microsoft EPM components

Microsoft EPM for enterprise-wide project management comprises the following project and portfolio management (PPM) products out of the box:

Microsoft Project Professional - the planning tool

Microsoft Project Professional (versions 2003 / 2007 / 2010) as a client solution includes all of the functions in the standard version, but unlike the latter is able to communicate with the Microsoft Project Server. The Microsoft Project client enables you to plan complex projects and view current information at any time. It also allows you to manage project work, schedules and finances, coordinate members of project teams, and be more productive.

It makes your work easier with powerful reporting functions, integration in Microsoft Office applications as well as interactive planning assistance, wizards and templates.

Microsoft Project Server - the platform solution

Microsoft Project Server (Version 2003 / 2007 / 2010) is a flexible platform solution that provides support for resource management as well as functions for planning, reporting, and project team collaboration. The Project Server gives organizations a centralized and unified repository for storing all their project and resource data.

It can also be integrated with Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (Version EPM 2007), or with Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 (Version EPM 2010). This delivers functions for file management and efficient team collaboration.

The Microsoft Project Server 2010 solution now also includes complete portfolio planning capabilities.

Microsoft Project Web Access / Web App (PWA)

In addition, users can access role-related data and functions via their web browser with Microsoft Project Web Access / Web App (PWA). The Project Server 2010 solution even enables users to make comprehensive changes to schedules via the Microsoft PWA.

Microsoft Project Portfolio Server

Project Portfolio Server is a top-down solution for portfolio management. It enables organizations to define, select, manage, and deliver the portfolios that are optimally aligned to their strategic goals, giving them an enterprise-wide PPM solution.

In Version 2007, the Microsoft Office Project Portfolio Server 2007 is a standalone solution that can be integrated with Office Project Server 2007. Microsoft Project Server 2010 solution now includes complete portfolio planning capabilities.
