Clear resource management for line managers
TPG TeamManager: management of project availability
All line managers need accurate information concerning their teams’ workloads, including absences and project-related work as well as their line activities. If line staff are also a resource available to project managers, it is important for everyone to have an overview of requests from project managers and commitments by the departments.
With the right software tool, line managers can quickly and easily plan which projects their staff will be involved in. And this is exactly what TPG TeamManager provides.
TPG TeamManager is used to plan line department resources but not individual tasks. The tool imports data about employees’ workloads from Microsoft Project Server, while absences and line-related activities are entered manually by line managers for each of their team members.
Actual project availability of every employee
The result is an overview of the actual project availability of every employee. Requests for generic or named resources by the project manager are automatically updated from Project Server, enabling line managers to see them and allocate their staff’s available capacity accordingly.
Project managers then see the departments’ commitments via the plan published on Project Server. Project managers can then use TPG TeamLink to dynamically compare the resources offered by the departments with their current project plans.
